RIGHT NOW: Everton take the lead against Liverpool

Currently, Everton take the lead against Liverpool.

At Goodison Park, Liverpool will play Everton in a Merseyside derby.
The start time is 21:00.

On Wednesday night, when Jurgen Klopp’s team visits Everton, a local rival, at Goodison Park, Liverpool will face a formidable challenge in their quest to stay ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City in the championship race.

Cody Gakpo was conspicuously absent from the Liverpool team when the starting eleven was revealed. According to The Athletic, this was because the player was expecting a child.

Nonetheless, Ibrahima Konate, Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah, who started the previous league game against Fulham on the bench, were in the starting lineup.

But even though Everton was battling for a new contract and Liverpool had a quality team, the home club had the stronger start to the game. After five minutes, everyone at Goodison Park believed Everton would get a penalty, but a VAR check confirmed that time. Liverpool was spared by an offside.

After a set-piece scenario, James Tarkowski had a wonderful opportunity with a forearm, but Alison Baker made an incredible reaction save to keep the goal alive.

But in the 27th minute of the game, Everton’s cross play paid off as retribution finally materialized.

Jarrad Branthwaite, the center defender, finally received a sweeping pass at his feet. The center back took a test shot, and Alison Baker managed to get the ball under him and into an empty net.

Dwight McNeil covered the ball after it crossed the goal line and went off the post. It was also evident during the VAR assessment that the management had a legitimate objective.

They are deserving of it. Nod duets are what they won all of them. As Sky commentator Gary Neville puts it, “Alienson almost rescues it, but it’s already there.”
